Layer one color (basecoat) consists of darker shades of the color you eventually want the model to have. From this point on, the model will get lighter and lighter as highlights are added. The overall brightness level will change with each layer.
I plan to paint the armor trim with a corroded metallic gold color. I [...]

From A to Tzeentch (prime layer)

A critical stage in painting almost any surface is the application of a prime or base coat. Priming ensures better adhesion of the paint to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection for the material being painted. In the case of a non-porous surface like plastics, you may notice that brush paint will [...]

Here’s the thing. If you want, you can do a Google search on model primers and get a host of forums like this one that features 50 people giving 50 different pieces of conflicting advice. In the end, you just have to find the product that works best for you. Honestly, I have found MAYBE [...]

One of the great parts of the 40k universe, as in all good fiction, is the use of referent names and symbology.
Caduceus Squads have a specific place in the Chapter’s history. The first Caduceus Squad was lead by the Master Sergeant’s battler Brother, the Apothecary Asclepius. While space marines know no fear, Apothecary Asclepius seemed to [...]

The Chapter of the Master Sergeant.
This is not the official Chapter name, but it is the most common one used by all battle Brothers who wish to speak respectfully of the Sons of the Dreadnaught Chapter. Those who don’t wish to convey respect, do not even acknowledge the Chapter’s existence, particularly Ordo Xeno’s Death Watch Chapter.
The title [...]

The Master Sergeant, after hearing the last Words of the Emperor, was slowly consumed by the imprint the Voice had made on his gene-seed. His battle Brother and confidant Apothecary Asclepius could do nothing to halt the unraveling of the Master Sergeant’s genetic material. A point came when the Master Sergeant faltered on the field and was [...]

I’ve been asked to post the steps in the modding and painting of a fig from A to Z. So I said to myself, “Self. This is what daemons were made for.”
I’ll start with my Chaos Daemon Prince model. Previously I noted how perfectly a Ravener’s scything claws replaced those boney knobby skull topped growths [...]
